Today we’d like to introduce you to Pentené Milner.
Pentené, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Before the creation of my blog Style Me Fancy by Pentené in 2016, I started a wardrobe styling and image consulting service business to help the everyday woman capture her authentic style and image. Sooner than later, Style Me Fancy was born as a marketing tool to help me brand myself as a stylist and a style connoisseur of sorts. It was to be used as a way for me to be seen on a personal level and not just as a business.
Never did I expect for it to turn into what its turned into now because it didn’t start off with the intent for me to become an influencer. I didn’t even know that the word existed until later. As my life’s journey has changed, so has the mission behind the blog. It has become a purposeful outlet for me to empower women to grow through style and provide them with the tools to live their best life as I grow through mine. My wardrobe styling service has been converted from its own separate website to now being housed on the blog as a service I provide.
Has it been a smooth road?
Blogging like any other business is not a joy ride and definitely has not been one for me. At first, it was learning how to blog. Sure I had something to say, but in what ways was I going to convey the information to my audience in an entertaining way that is going to get them to give my blog a time of day – especially in an already saturated blogging community. I had to figure out my voice.
To add to that, I had to determine what best set me apart from the other style and fashion bloggers. Another challenge that I still struggle with is growing my audience. It’s growing, but slowly. I know that my content is good and continues to get better, but I’ve been met with great challenge trying to learn about SEO’s and now the newest threat, algorithms. It just makes it tougher for my audience to find me until I learn how to master both.
On a more personal note, my second year of blogging came with the biggest obstacle of them all, going through a divorce and custody dispute while trying to grow and manage my business(es). Amid the chaos, my blog has definitely been therapeutic and a nurturing way for me to escape. A great way for the blog to transform as well.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the author, blogger and stylist of ‘Style Me Fancy by Pentené’ a style, fashion and lifestyle blog. It’s a space where women can come and learn on ways to best personify their own style – and what it takes to be able to articulate it. I wanted to show the fundamentals of style by experiencing each of my fun, idealistic and creative wardrobe looks. My goal has been to impose on my readers that there are many positive effects style has on an individuals day to day image and to learn how to be inspired by their experiences with their personal style.
I offer a personal wardrobe styling service in Los Angeles and virtually through my blog. I specialize in everyday wardrobe styling, bridal fashion styling and personal shopping. My service assists clients in choosing the wardrobe that best represents their personal style for any occasion. I want my clients to benefit from the service as it’s designed to help them develop skills in style, image and appearance. Each client will enjoy expert advice that advises on how to dress for their body shape, style personality, proportions and coloring helping each client make a love match with a wardrobe that ultimately defines her and her journey.
I am most proud of as a company its perseverance and still maintaining the ability to uplift others in the process of my hardships. It has been an outstanding feat consistently learning and growing. I believe my business in business is to be purposeful – not to sell my audience short and to help them get to their promise. I’m into what I call wardrobe healing and not just telling you what to buy because it’s cute. I want to show my audience how much your style should benefit you and your journey.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think LA is one of the best places to blog and have a styling business because of all the resources and opportunities available in the city. And since its the land of Hollywood, style and image matters to most. However, I do believe that a business in style and fashion can start anywhere, but depending on how much you want your business to grow, you want to be in a place where that particular industry is thriving and fortunately for me, I’m in a city where it is.
