Meet Pauline Marasek of Pauline’s Premier Sweets in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pauline Marasek.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Pauline. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been a creative person. I love to make gifts for people. That’s how the brittle business started, making it for friends and family almost 20 years ago. It was such a big hit, that 3 years later (2001) I started my business and in 2004 opened my candy store and kitchen.

During those years we have promoted our product by participating in many events such as: Studio City/Sherman Oaks Rotary Arts & Crafts Show, Big Bear Oktoberfest, Calabasas Pumpkin Festival, Disney Studios Tree Lighting Celebration, Road Kings Car Show, Dana Point Seafood Festival, Western States Horse Show in Pomona, and countless other events.

I have been a member of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, I am a current member of Calabasas Chamber of Commerce, Burbank Association of Realtors, and I am a substitute for BNI Chapters in Burbank and Sherman Oaks.

We custom package for weddings, showers, graduation and make custom promotional items with our pecan brittle being our most popular item. Recently we have started making wine jellies, and they have turned out to be a big hit. I am doing my first order of 110 jars for a bridal shower. We also supply The Hudson Group at the Burbank Airport. I created my own recipe for Foxy’s Thoughtful Ice Cream, who uses our toffee for their “Salted Caramel & English Toffee” ice cream.

We also wholesale to local restaurants and gift store’s such as: Joan’s on 3rd, MeneSweets and others.

I am also a published songwriter and lead singer for the 80’s rock band, L.A. Reds.

Has it been a smooth road?
Actually, it’s been very difficult. One thing I did not realize till after I got my own store, and suddenly had all the overhead, is that my brittle is very seasonal. We do gang buster business during Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. Other holidays or special occasions like Valentines & Mother’s Day, also bring in business. The rest of the year, I do my best to stay busy with weddings etc.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pauline’s Premier Sweets – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the founder and creator of Pauline’s Premier Sweets, which is also known as Pauline’s Handmade Brittle.

We specialize in gourmet butter Pecan Brittle. The Rockin’ Classic (our original) is our best seller, but our chocolate covered brittle’s do just as well. We have dark, milk, white, mint, mocha and swirl chocolate pecan brittle, along with our 2 seasonal varieties, pumpkin and white chocolate peppermint, We also have 3 varieties of peanut brittle which include our very popular Smoky Chocolate (Habanero-Chipotle Peanut brittle with dark chocolate and sea salt).

Our dark chocolate fudge, caramel pecan popcorn and chocolate dipped pretzel rods are also delicious.

We are known for our high quality and freshness, attentive customer service, and professionalism.

I am most proud of my 5 star reviews on Yelp, 5 star reviews on Facebook, and 98% approval on Groupon.

What sets us apart from other candies is our freshness and quality control.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most is that you can find anything in L.A. I have found great supplier for the majority of my cooking materials and packaging for great prices.

What I like the least is trying to get to my suppliers, traffic!
