Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Cleveland.
Patrick, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am also the founder and clinical director of Daybreak Counseling Center. Our team of amazing therapists specialize in providing psychotherapy, counseling, and mental health services for adolescents, teens, individuals, couples, and families at our offices in Long Beach, Cerritos, Brea, and Online via video tele therapy throughout all of California. I grew up in the East Los Angeles area. I have had to overcome many obstacles to get to where I am in life and business. I have worked in mental health for 15 years now. I have worked in various community mental health settings that address issues such as addictions, schizophrenia, severely emotionally disturbed children, domestic violence, and comprehensive mental health services. In 2013 I started working in private practice in Long Beach, CA. I have presented clinical and academic work both locally and internationally, have taught psychology and philosophy at various colleges, and am currently teaching psychology at Long Beach City College. I have thoroughly enjoyed gaining experience working with a diverse range of issues and serving the community at large. Some of my specialties include depression, anxiety, PTSD, LGBT issues, life transitions, couples counseling, relationship issues, career issues, addictions/substance, grief and loss, and stress management.
My private-practice grew quickly and in 2016 I decided in incorporate and founded Daybreak Counseling Center. Over the years I have selectively hired amazing therapists to join our clinical team who share the same vision of a therapy and also want to provide clients with a holistic and client centered experience that focuses on our clients as a whole person and not just what issues may be bringing them to see us. We now proudly provide psychotherapy, couples counseling, and mental health services to the communities of Long Beach, Brea, Cerritos and their surrounding cities.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have worked very hard to grow my business in order to provided much needed mental health services to the communities we serve. I believe our focus on providing high quality client focused care has helped with this tremendously. The first year of private practice was a little tough in terms of networking and creating a steady business flow but once I did many of clients referred people they knew and it grew from there. I have also reached out to many community organizations and leaders in order to build relationships and further serve the people in the city of Long Beach, Cerritos, and Brea.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We provide adolescent, teen, adult, couples, and family therapy, counseling, and mental health consultation services. We work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples therapy and personal growth work. In a comfortable, confidential, and supportive atmosphere, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving to attain. What sets us apart from many other forms of psychotherapy is that we don’t just treat the symptom, we treat the whole person. We take all aspects of a person’s life into account during treatment such as family of origin, social issues, work issues, etc. and not just the psychological or physical symptoms. Doing so allows to better conceptualize the issues our clients are trying to address and helps us formulate unique client centered interventions to help them.
