Meet Patricia Perez of 310 Coffee Company in Mar Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Perez.

Patricia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In search of a good cup of joe for themselves around the neighborhood of Mar Vista, and noticing there were pockets of places in need of yummy coffee, three friends – Andrew, Robert, and Patricia (aka, Trisha) – decided to open up a shop to serve Stumptown Coffee, Art of Tea, and other treats. We were hoping to bring good vibes and fun delicacies to the community.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall, the journey has been exactly what was expected, one with highs and lows. As with any new venture, there will always be challenges that will test your strength, will, and fortitude to pursue your goals, such as dealing with construction, permits/licenses, and other logistical details.

Because we have knowledge in the food & beverage industry, specifically with restaurants, our life experiences and lessons along the way have significantly helped with opening up 310 Coffee Company, though we never operated a cafe nor been involved in the coffee and tea arenas.

Our years of know-how constantly motivated us to persist through any small or big struggles by staying true.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with 310 Coffee Company – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are three friends (Andrew, Robert, and Patricia) met at work. We were lunch buddies who were employed as techies for our day jobs in Culver City. We first opened up our first business – a restaurant in Culver City in 2008 not having any experience but simply having the drive and motivation to better our lives.

Being in the hospitality industry since then has given us the confidence to try a different arena, such as the coffee world. In opening up 310 Coffee Company, we aim to bring good coffee, tea and treats to the part of a Mar Vista neighborhood where this kind of third-wave coffee was not yet available. Again, looking for a place to find a coffee shop to have our morning brew ourselves, we noticed this need.

An opportunity presented itself with the location at the right timing of when we made this observation, and we took the leap to do so. We have been blessed this came across our paths, especially how it aligned with our personal goals to diversify our business knowledge and financial health.

We are proud to serve and collaborate with Stumptown Coffee. As a purveyor of coffee products and expertise, we chose to work with them because of their vision and intention of sustainability and quality. We are also grateful to work with local vendors to provide tasty pastries and other items.

What distinguishes us from others is the people, specifically the leadership. We believe in upholding the pleasant experience of food and beverage for our patrons and staff and the quality of that experience accessible for all.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
One of our immediate goals for the future is to increase the seating in our patio area, so our guests can enjoy the outdoors while hanging out at our shop.

In the future, we would like to open up more coffee shops, as well as expand our beverage menu. I would share more, but we want to keep it a surprise!
