Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Salzman.
Pamela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Although I have always loved cooking, gardening and health and wellness, I really fell into a profession in culinary by accident. 15 years ago, I joined a cooking group with a bunch of friends where a chef would come to one of our homes once a month and teach us a few recipes and then we would eat lunch together. It was lovely, but I wasn’t learning much and I was always whispering to my friends how to make the food healthier or quicker. After a few years, they asked me to take over the class. I decided to accept the invitation until I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. After I taught that first class, the rest is history and I never looked back! The business grew organically from one class a month to 4 classes a week, a blog with active social media accounts, a cookbook, writing for a magazine, consulting for restaurants and now, my cooking classes are available online!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been smooth in the sense that I never had a plan for any of this, so I have never been disappointed that I haven’t achieved my goals. 😉 But some days, social media can get the best of me and I stress out that I’m not doing enough, not helping enough people etc. But, I pull myself back to my path and stick to what I do best, which is teaching people how to cook more, smarter and more healthfully.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with PamelaSalzman.com or my book is called “Kitchen Matters” – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am first and foremost a cooking instructor who emphasizes cooking with whole, unprocessed foods. I teach busy people from all walks of life how to fit cooking into their lives and how to make healthy food taste amazing, even for picky eaters. When I could no longer accommodate all the people that want to take my classes in person, I established an online cooking school which just launched in March 2018. I am so proud that I have made such a meaningful impact on so many people’s lives and now, I can reach even more people!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I will focus a lot of my efforts right now in my online cooking school. And, I might have a book proposal for Book #2 out there! 😉
