Meet Pamela Mora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Mora.

Pamela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I moved to Los Angeles in 2016 and have been telling stories and entertaining ever since! In 2020 I produced “Killer Spirit,” a horror comedy short film. In 2021, I co-founded the comedy variety show “The Goat Show.” Recently I’ve renewed my interest in directing. I directed “Same But Different,” a comedy pilot part of the Loyola Marymount writing and producing graduate program. I’m currently in pre-production for “Tail,” a horror short film I wrote based on the Tailypo folklore.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Rarely does exactly what I’m picturing in my head come to life when I produce or when I create anything. There are always overlooked details that put my brain on the fritz afterwards, but mistakes happen so I chalk it up to experience and try to do better next time. I call myself the cockroach of Los Angeles because I could survive a nuclear apocalypse and crawl out from underground when it’s all over. That’s to say, the quality of work will come with time, what’s most important is being resilient and the last man standing instead of getting hung up on the small stuff.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I produce the comedy variety show, “The Goat Show” at The Pico (@goatshowla). Our next show is Friday, May 19th at 8 PM at the Pico and is a fraternity-themed show where my co-host and I will be our frat boy alternate personas, ‘Roids and Throat Goat.

I’m currently in pre-production for a horror short film, “Tail,” that I’m writing and directing. We just launched our GoFundme and are raising $3500 for the production of Tail, so please consider donating!

Recently I co-hosted an episode of the Yellowjackets podcast, “The Antler Queens” (@theantlerqueens).

I’m the author of PAMTONE, a monthly satirical column in the digital zine Stupid Zine (@stupidzine).

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People are always surprised by how much I love horror movies and how passionate I am about them. My friend jokes that I’m a goth with the wrong color scheme– that color scheme is pink!

I also love animals and am fostering a beautiful 7 lb red-eyed rabbit named May Antoinette, who’s looking for a forever home where she can free roam! She’s adaptable through the Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation (@larabbitfoundation).
