Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Gallagher.
Paige, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As an aspiring actor in Los Angeles, I very quickly got tired of trying to fit into someone else’s box. So, I decided to create a place where I could create and express myself the way I wanted to. About a year ago, I reached out to a handful of college friends and we got together to write. After a few months of writing, we performed our first full-length sketch comedy show. Since then, we’ve performed at several comedy clubs in LA and just booked a monthly show.
Has it been a smooth road?
Yes and no. The biggest struggle we face is getting exposure. There are a million and one really great comedy groups in Los Angeles which means creating a name for ourselves somewhat difficult.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
We are a sketch comedy group. We decided to name ourselves “Queerish” because some of us are queer, and some of us aren’t. Hence the “ish”. Our sketches expose what it’s like to be queer, what it’s like to hate your job, what it’s like to be a poor 20 something year old in today’s society, etc.
