Meet Omar “Meez” Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar “Meez” Jones.

Hi Omar “Meez”, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
“It all started in Tracy, CA its and hour right outside of the Bay area. I didn’t think it was gonna be a big thing until I picked up a camera and started shooting”. I was just a young kid from the Bay taking pictures where I could and eventually it turned into a lifestyle. Now I’m here, still grinding hard and able to make a difference and influence others in visual art. I wanted to be able to bring my audiences artistic expression and collaborating with global scale brands also be the vessel to show that the impossible can be done.

“Berkeley’s Omar “Meez” Jones is a biker, photographer, graphic designer and entrepreneur. One of his top talents is his ability to take his lifestyle and make a living off of it.” – Quoted from KQED a local news outlet in the Bay area.

Recent recognition around Oakland and surrounding cities has been amazing. Recently doing the “Hometown” campaign with Apple that was launched during black history month. The image selected shot by Kamal X was chosen to be a part of the Apple Commercial, IG Post and we also had 8 or 9 billboard Locations all across the Bay Area. This was just one highlight to the beginning of 2021.

I wanted people’s takeaway from my experiences to be that anyone can do photography as long as they have a passion for it and enjoy it. “I don’t want people to think that because you don’t have the best equipment, you aren’t going to be a good photographer”. Whether you’re just starting out or are afraid to start because of the fear of “not being good enough”, you are in total control of your vision and storytelling.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yeah, overall it has been smooth. I think the biggest challenge is the inequality in the work space. There just isn’t enough diversity in companies or organizations most times. The most frustrating is that as a creative or black creative we are so much more advanced in knowledge of self and culture. Thats just something thats instilled in anyone who has a purpose and whats to make actual change in the world and society. I’d rather stick with creating the best quality work and sharing it as well. Not really interested in anyone approval for now; I’ve already met myself in places most can’t get to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“It’s my job to understand what I can bring to the creative table that will be shared to your personal outlets. The content we create will be the results in value for all.”

Always on an adventure, I’m one of Bay Area’s well-known photographers. “As a Lifestyle photographer, my focus is capturing the urban and street life of a location. These images highlight the subtleties of Street Culture, Landscapes, Lifestyle and Editorial. “The diversity in my style and an audience that reaches locally and internationally”. Understanding the high-quality engaging photo and video content for your digital platforms. My goal is to help you understand where I come from as well as fall in love with the locations I visit by sharing my vision and passion through my lens. I offer Clean imagery with an abstract environment to my advertising, editorial and youthful clients.
