Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Thompson.
Olivia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Over the years, I’ve learned that circumstances don’t determine who you are or who you can become. I came to Los Angeles from Tucson Arizona at 18 to study product development and graduated from FIDM in 2013. As a child raised in a single-parent household, I had a solid understanding of hard work and perseverance. I did not know exactly what I wanted to do so over several years, I did a little bit of everything from wardrobe styling, jewelry design, and even had my own store in Inglewood on market street.
I learned how to extract the juice out of each business opportunity, internship, or job experience. Sometimes you have to work for free, do jobs that you don’t want to get to a place of stability. I started nannying for celebrities to allow myself to properly invest in my projects. I didn’t know how much I would love working with families as much as I did! Working closely with family dynamics inspired me to get involved with spiritual work. This led me to becoming and spiritual healer cultivating all of my experiences into my business 3rdborn. I do energy readings, sell crystals, spiritual kits, and jewelry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the most challenging lessons has been to know who I am. Sometimes you have to experience what you don’t like in order to guide you to your path. I did several jobs for free and jobs at times that I did not like. However, I found that in each experience I learned that I’m a hard worker and I also learned that it’s OK to rest and that your mental state can affect your physical health.
The more that I developed my sense of self and inner guidance, I made better business decisions and had the right energy to attract the best clients and people to work with. Working and building a business in Los Angeles is not easy, especially if you do not know who you are. Stay grounded in that truth and you can do anything!

3rdborn is a metaphysical brand where spirituality meets fashion. Spirituality doesn’t have one look, race, or style. It’s our own connection to the divine. We do manifestation workshops, energy readings, and sell crystals. We are most proud of our spiritual kits! We have three different spiritual kits and we do custom ones as well to help people on their healing journey. Each kit comes with sage, a candle, affirmations, crystals and jewelry.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always playful and curious. I was definitely the epitome of a typical 90’s kid! I would play outside until the streetlights came on and watch “One Saturday Morning” with my four siblings every weekend. From sun up to sun down I only cared about one thing and that was barbies barbies barbies! I loved barbies because they were beautiful and I was definitely a girly girl but most importantly I would pretend to have the life that I really wanted!
When I reflect back on that time I now realize it was a form of manifestation. Visualizing something that you want with intense emotion and focus can allow the most beautiful things into your experience. Through working with kids in my nanny career I’ve learned that having a childlike imagination as an adult has it’s challenges, but even larger rewards. When we combine our wisdom as adults with the playfulness of a child we can create a beautiful reality for ourselves.
