Today we’d like to introduce you to Oksanna Romanov.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. At a very young age, I loved life and I knew that we can choose a joyful journey! Growing up in a broken family and seeing so much pain and dysfunction, I found the creative outlet to cope and thrive by becoming a part of a dance company directed by Natalia Clarke.
At the age of 12, I became a lead dancer and a partner of Greg Chapkis (Chapkis Dance Family Founder worldwide). I quickly found my passion for teaching and started to teach children. Teaching always came naturally to me.
At the age of 15, I formed my own dance company called Victoria, where I served as an artistic director up until moving to New York to reunite with my Mother. I fast found a dance company directed by Victor Kanevsky (currently VK Dance Arena in Hallandale, Florida) at that time in Brooklyn, NY where I was a part of professional ballroom dance competitions and showcases.
At the same time, I was approached by a few model/talent agencies where I was able to express my new talents – modeling and acting. I studied with many amazing acting teachers and studios in NY including American Italian actor Vinny Vella (RIP) who became a dear friend and my acting coach. I have worked as a shoes model for DVF, Ralph Lauren, MK, and Sketchers. As a hair model for Chromastics.
My dream was to move to Hollywood to deepen my acting studies and explore that area of creativity. In 2009, I was able to come to perform in finals on Americas Got Talent as a showgirl and decided to stay in Los Angeles. Upon moving here, I discovered Kundalini Yoga that unlocked my creative endeavors as an artist and a songwriter. I grasped painting as my way to express healing energy while I was learning deep meditations. I grasped the music as a way to express my deepest feelings and emotions in the unique to myself ways, in collaboration with Sprite (Steban Sprite Demari RIP) we created the album that I am still working on and can’t wait to share it with the world!
Kundalini Yoga masters – Sirimarka Khalsa and Dharam Dev Kaur saw my talents for teaching and my healing empathic nature and in 2012 I was granted the honor – a scholarship to become Kundalini Yoga teacher.
At the pandemic time, I created my own online yoga company Star2Star yoga where I train leaders in all categories – from models to business owners. I provide the support they need to advance in their purpose.
I am now entering an Academy level and look forward to making a difference by sharing this teachings to the next generations globally.
Parallel to my creative career, I built a luxury jewelry sales/training/management career and I continue to grow in all of the areas in my life.
For almost a year now we are facing a war in Ukraine, I am looking forward to the end of this tragedy. I plan to go and rebuild the country I was born in by volunteering to the best of my capacity.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning the language to the level I feel comfortable to write and expressing myself – definitely took a lot of time for me.
Fitting into a new culture and feeling AT HOME.
Balancing career and relationship.
And of course, the pandemic and the war in Ukraine – put scars on my heart that I am still trying my best to heal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love to paint as I find unconfined freedom of expression and healing when I paint. I love to use bright beautiful colors as I see life that way.
My purpose is to feel safe and self-love in anything I do and make others feel the same, safe and loved.
Each project that I take on – includes these ingredients.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Your gut is your second brain. Feed yourself with quality foods (alkaline diet) this way your GUT FEELING will bring you directly to your life purpose.
Exercise at least twice a week, and choose the type you ENJOY.
Trust yourself. If it FEELS OFF – IT’S OFF. If it feels right to you – go for it even if everyone around you objects it.
Respect your time and the time of others.
Always INTEND GREAT, angels will support you in most impossible situations.
Do not stay in negative toxic environments, it affects your creativity.
Strangers CARE!
Learn to LOVE YOURSELF. Only then you can give love to others.
