Meet Norman Johnson Jr. of NothingNormal in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norman Johnson Jr.

Norman, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been in the entertainment business since the age of five. My father Christian Redd is an Actor/Comedian and has done numerous events for unprivileged kids in the inner cities. This tying into my story at a very young age gave me drive for something bigger than just myself. Found my purpose very young acting doing the whole Disney, Nickelodeon things and figured I needed time to be a human, time to grow. So I studied at Cal State Univ Northridge met some like-minded individuals that helped me explore my full potential within ART. Expressing myself through all different avenues of ART & I wasn’t doing it in a fearful manner, I was fearless with my intention.

Stuck with music and photography for a while & later found my self in the middle of it all. I was Managing Tyga’s Last King Store while I was in College. Met some dope people and ultimately gave me the lane to fulfill what I started before. Currently been working with film as the last two years. Just wrapped my 2nd project of the year. The Last Summer is a Netflix Original that’s available on Netflix. Also have some great things ahead this year both musically and film. Very Excited to share….

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Mind-Bending to say the least! I’ve literally conquered anything Ive set myself to do. The life that’s chosen me is not for the weak hearted. That’s the difference between the one you look up to & the one that’s besides you. You must be aware of the path laid out, it’s never going to be a cakewalk, that’s why I suggest finding that purpose that burns passion in you to fight for it in this life. WE ARE ALL AT WAR at some degree…

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NothingNormal – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
NothingNormal all started out as an idea to enhance the cities beautiful emerging artist, specifically the underground. I was blessed with such a rare perspective that not everyone would know what to do with it. So I came up with this concept of a platform where all artful endeavors can be executed through. Whether its a vision of some sort, visual treatment, promo marketing, writing, film, etc. Worked with some great artists/clients along the way Major Myjah, OT Genisis TKN CASH Jacob Latimore Cameron Boyce KJ APA.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Have some great plans and goals for the future. Excited for this tv series I just wrapped up, I play the legend Tosin Abasi from Animals As Leaders. Going to be an amazing show very introspective view of the rock n roll life. I would say I’m living through the future now with my actions and the seeds I’ve planted yesterday. Always like to stay two steps ahead of the next move. Always have something up my sleeve…
