Meet Nora Lyashko of Nora Ink in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nora Lyashko.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nora. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a tattoo artist. I work in one of the most popular tattoo studios in the world, Sashatattooing Studios. A year ago, I was invited to work in the United States as a tattoo colorist and now I work in Los Angeles. I do peonies preferably and my flowers are very well known around the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s always difficult in the beginning. You should work hard to achieve your goals. Sometimes it takes one, two and even more years to find your own style and make something that would be recognizable and special. The main principle is do not copy someone else’s work. It was the tufts part. Tell people who bring you picture from the internet that I’m not gonna do copies. For me, it’s not just a business. It’s an art.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nora Ink story. Tell us more about the business.
As I’m a part of a big Sashatattooing family we have a lot of projects and collaborations that we did together with artists who work in our shops. Each artist from our team has his own style. So it’s super cool to share an experience and create something together. For example, we just finished collaboration on the temporary tattoos set with @ann_pokes. It would be her Japanese fans with my flowers on it. I’m specializing on the flowers and color. Peonies are my inspiration. I do very feminine and delicate tattoos. I very proud that I can do exactly what I like to do. Each work is like my baby. I work on it, I grow it. And I’m so happy to see the results and happy faces of my clients.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck means a huge role, but I believe that those who deserve it are lucky. Without luck, I wouldn’t be where I am. But failure is also a good thing. Any experience is useful in life and it’s better do not take it negative.
