Meet Mascha Davis of Nomadista Nutrition and VAD Foundation in Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mascha Davis.

Mascha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started Nomadista Nutrition, a nutrition consulting private practice, in 2016, after returning to LA from five years working in Africa. I was doing humanitarian aid work and was very passionate about continuing even when back in LA, which is how I became involved with the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation (http://www.vadfoundation.org/), an incredible nonprofit providing education to children in South Sudan.

I recently joined the Advisory Council of the VAD Foundation and now we are organizing a celebrity fundraiser in Los Angeles to raise funds and awareness for food security and nutrition in South Sudan.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is really challenging. There’s so much to figure out and learn. At the same time, it’s exciting and I’ve met so many brilliant people who have helped me along the way and become good friends in the process

Valentino Achak Deng faced tremendous challenges in his life. There is a book based on him called What is the What – the story of a lost boy from South Sudan who walked to a refugee camp and started a new life. Now Valentino is a renown humanitarian and he runs the VAD school in South Sudan.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nomadista Nutrition and VAD Foundation – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m most proud about Nomadista Nutrition being a business with purpose at its core.

From the very beginning, giving back was an essential part of my company. I am committed to using my platform and my skills to making a positive contribution.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity and plethora of opportunities in LA. No one is an outsider here. As a former refugee myself, I know what it’s like to feel displaced and like you don’t fit it. In LA, you can make your dreams come to life and find your tribe. This is a city that has so much hope, opportunity and people from every corner of the world and walk of life. I love the energy here.

The traffic is probably what I like the least!
