Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Metz.
Hi Niki, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! I was born and raised in Southern California, I spent over 20 years working as a top Editorial and Celebrity Makeup Artist in New York and Hollywood, and most recently a makeup artist for E! News at NBC Universal. As the youngest of three sisters, we were all obsessed with makeup. My two oldest sisters worked in cosmetics, and I followed their lead which led me to my first job in the makeup industry. I was one of the first National Makeup Artists for Nars Cosmetics, and then after worked alongside Diane Von Furstenberg as her Makeup Director for her cosmetic brand DvF Beauty. As a makeup artist I always loved a great, polished brow so microblading was a perfect match for me. About eight years ago I began creating my signature fluffy brow technique with microblading and I established a strong client base across the nation. I opened Studio Néos 5 1/2yrs ago in Camarillo and have established myself as one of the best in the industry for natural looking brows.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started my career as a makeup artist around 2000. I worked on all types of people which gave me an incredible amount of experience. This led me to be able to have “an eye” for what my clients desired. Microblading started to become a trend around 2017, and as it was becoming popular I knew I could master the craft and create my signature technique. This led me into permanent makeup. Having the experience as a makeup artist made this a transition seamless.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Permanent Makeup Artist, and I specialize in natural looking brows. I have a very light hand so my microblading technique is very effortless and gives the “no microblading look” (if that makes sense!) I am not only proud of my loyal clients but the ones who travel from all over the nation to get their brows done by me. I am so honored to have all my clients and to have their trust in me. I give my all in each and every one of my clients and I strive to give them the perfect brow.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve worked with some of the best makeup artists, hairstylists and stylists in the industry in my career. My very first mentor was Ayako, she taught me everything glam and editorial. I wouldn’t be where I am at without her guidance. I’ve also been fortunate to have loyal clients throughout the years who have all helped pave the way to where I am now. My client Alexandra Von Furstenberg helped me make my mark in Hollywood, her trust, loyalty, friendship, support and referrals made it happen! I have been very fortunate for my amazing career.
