Meet Nicole Spruill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Spruill.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The start of my career took off when I became the winner of Maybelline’s “Shades of You” Model of the Year Competition! From that, I won a trip to Europe for a week. While there, I attended open casting interviews with agents and managers. Was blessed enough to get on board with one of the top agents in their “new faces” division. Went back home to the states but eventually returned to London where I lived and worked as a full- time professional model for several years. This was an experience of a lifetime! I booked huge print campaigns, magazines and high- end couture runway shows alongside the great supermodels of today!

This experience catapulted me into the model/actress I’ve become. Started very young at a time when agents, casting directors, producers, mentors didn’t feel the need to give you a false positive, tell you how great you are. as a result of not “killing dreams.” They were honest and told the truth, which was very much appreciated. With that developed a drive, hustle, and hunger to get better. A thick skin from all the lashes that occurred and a journey to improve.

Today, I am a full-time professional model and actress. I am also a fashion designer, entrepreneur and founder of clothing brand, Moves Athletix! I have used what I’ve learned to move forward successfully in business and in life. Meeting great mentors along the way that serve as an inspiration. I am so thankful to continue this passion, do what I love in hopes t0 inspire others to follow their dreams!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have always been very strong, confident and secure but this has not been a consistently smooth road along the way. The amount of No’s you are told do not compare to its counterpart. When you are in a business that is mainly focused on the superficial, it can be devastating. Not getting booked on a job or represented by a certain agency because of your skin color, hair color, facial features, and height can be crushing. These are all things that need to be prepared for and expected.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
After over a decade in the business working as a full-time professional model and actress, I have been making strides in the beauty, fashion and entertainment industries from coast to coast. In NYC, I was represented by Wilhelmina models and ICM for commercials. In Los Angeles by LA Talent and SS Management. I have graced the runways working with acclaimed designers, high-end fashion houses and showrooms.

You may have seen me in print advertisement campaigns for Miller Lite, Revlon, Rite Aid, Nikon, Verizon, Zipcar, Lee Jeans, Sprint, Beauty on the Go Cosmetics, UCLA, TownHouse Crackers to name a few. On late Night Television, The Jay Leno show and in National Commercials for Stella Artois, Hyundai, Progressive, Verizon, Captain D’s, Wendy’s, H&M, KFC, Samsung Galaxy, Lexus, Dave & Buster’s, Heineken and many more.

What sets me apart from others is my willingness to learn, grow and take inspiration. I am not afraid of constructive criticism, I do not find solace in being told that I’m great but find pleasure in what I can do better. There is always room to grow and learn no matter what degree of success you’ve achieved. This mindset is what I’m most proud of. So thankful to have pursued my passion at a time when being honest was cool!
