Meet Nicky Paris, Stand Up Comedian (As seen on Wendy Williams and MTV) in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicky Paris.

Nicky, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story has been crazy but so rewarding. Just wait for my Lifetime Movie, Kris Jenner is going to play me. I don’t even know how this all happened, to be honest. It’s still super weird for me and I definitely have moments where I’m like “Omg you’re a comedian.” I started doing standup when I was 17 and it changed my life. It gave my life meaning in a lot of ways. At heart, I’m just that kid who loves performing more than anything. My soul has to perform, it’s kind of crazy. I will perform anywhere that I can make people laugh. I’ve played casinos, clubs, pizzerias and Uzbekistan restaurants where I was rejected by 3 people in a foreign language and I loved every moment. I adore the craft of stand-up comedy and I respect the art form. I’ve seen it transform so many people’s lives and definitely helped them to become their best and happiest selves.

There’s so many great comedic talents here in Los Angeles and you see so much dedication and drive. It’s really inspiring. That’s probably what I’m most looking forward to this weekend as I host the red carpet for the 5th annual Burbank Comedy Festival. From headlining acts to podcasts, panels and the hottest emerging comedy on the scene are just a few of the things you’ll get to experience this year. I’m proud to get to be a part of it.

Also, can I just say how cool it is to see that you guys are highlighting such exciting people? I loved your piece on Anthony Desamito. He’s a riot.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve never seen a smooth ride as long as I’ve walked this earth. Can someone let me know what that’s like? Call my cell. Laugh at everything and you will persevere. I always tell people imagine what you’re going through right now and imagine how much worse it would be if you were ugly. See? It could be worse.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about your business – what should we know?
I like to consider myself a product. Like Rihanna. I hope I never go on clearance.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humor. No questions asked. If you can laugh at it, you can get through it.
