Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Shipp.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in small town of Texas & navigating the restaurant scene there, I never imagined I’d end up a chef in a town with some of the best in the biz!!! Many people don’t know, but I actually came to LA to play drums, but quickly found my true calling in the kitchen.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t think a job with such demanding hours &the stress can be completely smooth. It’s never easy, but at the end of the day it’s all well worth it. Having a career that you can truly express yourself in is super rewarding.
Please tell us about Upper West Restaurant.
Being the chef at upper west is awesome!!! We’re unique in a sense that our cuisine reaches the masses. (something for everyone). I’m proud that we’ve become a spot driven by locals. I love the comradery that we have, not only with our employees, but with our clientele as well… it’s a true sense of family.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I suppose I don’t look too far into the future……I’m more of a live in the now type of guy.
