Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Bennett.
Nick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from LA. I grew up in The Valley and Malibu and have been in the area ever since other than a brief stint in Colorado. I’ve always worked in the service industry and feel as though I have too much physical energy to sit still in an office setting, it’s really all I know. AhbA originally started as a brewery project and I was seriously considering a move to Denver. I’ve been looking for a small intimate space for quite some time now and have found it extremely difficult. When I saw this location, I jumped on it right away. I’ve always like restaurants that look like houses. And that’s kind how it all started.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every business has its challenges and the initial climb is always tough, especially for restaurants. I feel very fortunate however to have gained the support of the local community fairly quickly. I’m happy with where we’re at.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about AhbA – what should we know?
We are restaurant serving seasonal California cuisine with a bit of a Mediterranean influence. As I mentioned before I really like spaces that look like houses and so I really try to blur the lines between home and restaurant. I think ultimately, we are most proud that we can offer something to the community that they may not be able to find elsewhere. I’d like to think that we are filling a void within the neighborhood. We really are just trying to feed people fresh, exciting food and provide them with the best experience possible.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being open to new perspectives and problem solving in creative ways. That and a decent work ethic and some resilience always helps as well.
