Meet Native Space of Native Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Native Space

Native Space, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Native Space was founded December 2020. We all remember where we were in 2020. Living through a pandemic, we were all watching our beloved business shut down and some of them shut down for good. The founder of Native Space, Anna Piskoulian never stopped cutting hair during the lockdown, do to enormous demand. At a time when most of our privileges were taken from us, getting a haircut showed us how important our hair was to us. This high demand for haircuts gave Anna the courage to open Native Space during uncertain times. 4 years has gone by and Native Space continues to be a place where people find their confidence and community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is opening a business ever a smooth road?? Some unexpected challenges along the way was really focused around finding the right people to hire that were in alignment with the company culture I was trying to cultivate. Finding a good fit when recruiting took a lot more time that I had expected. I thought all I had to do was create a “cool” space and the stylists would flock. Boy how wrong I was! Even after 4 years in business, recruiting the right people still tends to be an area that always needs the most attention.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Native Space?
Native Space is a modern men’s salon that defies the traditional norm of the typical “male” occupied spaces. Design wise it offers a softer masculine feel with a culture that encourages opening up in the chair about real life stuff. Native Space emphasizes the consultation experience, making it feel safe to express the pain points that the customer feels in regards to their hair. Its never just a haircut with us. Its an experience that builds confidence to safety.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
