Meet Nathly Cuffie of Nathly Starr in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathly Cuffie.

Nathly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an actress and singer-songwriter. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, I’ve been involved in the arts since I was young – it always came naturally to me. I started off in church, and my family is a singing family. Music has always been an essential part of my life. At the age of 17, I decided to take my talents more seriously by enrolling in a performing arts college. My talents include perfect pitch, composing music, writing plays and monologues (I currently have one in the works right now!) as well as playing trumpet, piano, and ukulele.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been smooth. My family did not have a lot of money, so I always felt like I had to split my focus between my dreams and reality. When I moved to LA, I didn’t know the ropes but I knew that I needed to stabilize myself to have a solid foundation in order to lift off.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am most known for singing and songwriting, which is what I specialize in. I am most proud of my ability to adapt in this business. Something that sets me apart is my down to earth personality that can be hard to find in Los Angeles.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think this city is a great place to start out if you already have representation and a good foundation. I believe that this city can work on having more sound connections that are not based on monetary exchanges; but rather based off of one person TRULY believing in another person.
