Meet Natasha Vee of Hells Belles Burlesque

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Vee.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We began performing rock burlesque shows in Santa Monica and Venice beach, which quickly expanded into various private events, television appearances and other residencies all around Los Angeles. We were the first to begin teaching regular burlesque classes at a major LA dance studio. With our reputation, we have been now instructing classes, workshops, bachelorette and birthday classes for over 6 years. We created a method of teaching that allows us to share burlesque dancing with the masses!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is still a lot of public confusion as to what burlesque even is. We are constantly educating people as to what the artform is verses the dance style, and the modernization of burlesque that has occurred in LA. Los Angeles is definitely a very dance focused burlesque city, so it can be tame or hyper sexual depending on the venue, gig, environment, occasion, and performer.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hells Belles Burlesque – what should we know?
We perform at special events, private events, nightclubs and bars, as well as television and film and even music videos.

The teaching side of our business includes weekly drop-in classes, workshops, and bachelorette party classes.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We are all professional dancers who have been doing burlesque specifically for 5-11 years. This isn’t a hobby for us, it’s a job, and we treat it as such. Our company has made a conscious choice to not only employee talented performers but also those who are responsible and business minded. This has allowed us to gain so much in our niche field and really stand out as a leader of the artform. Clients and students know they are getting the best when they come to The Belles!
