Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadine Krakov.
Nadine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My husband and I started the business in the early 1990’s by collecting and selling art and objects from around the world. We would go to flea markets around Los Angeles and see that there was a huge supply of high end vintage designer jewelry that wasn’t reaching supply. We saw the future and figured vintage and antique jewelry was the way to go. We opened up a store in now closed Antiquarius and reached success rather quickly with our Victorian and designer pieces. We liked to call ourselves a hidden treasure trove and our customers loved that even more due to the privacy and one on one service. Throughout the years, our collection grew as did our clientele. We were featured in countless magazines, red carpets and started consigning our pieces to high end stores around the world. Fast forward to 20 years and we are still the same family run business just in a new location with a fresh outlook to the future. Only thing that hasn’t changed is our hunger for beauty and all things vintage.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been smooth… the recession in 2008 was difficult but we kept powering through and succeeded. Our biggest challenge today is staying relevant in this technological age. Everything is on social media; we have to learn how to change with the times and translate our ideas and products to a younger generation.
Please tell us about Nadine Krakov Collection.
Our business specializes in antique and estate designer jewelry from the 1890’s to present. We travel the world and shop flea markets to find these one of a kind pieces. We appraise, we style, and we teach our clients about famous and world-renowned brands and trends. We are known for our one of a kind pieces specifically designed by Cartier, Van Cleef and Bvlgari to name a few. Specifically, our clients love our 70s pieces and Art Deco pieces. We are most proud of staying LA’s best kept secret. Our clients have been with us for 20 years and we intend to continue our service to the best of our ability. What sets us apart are our prices! We can honestly say we offer the fairest prices around.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have done anything differently, it was all a lesson learned.
