Meet Mysty Lawrence of Get Out Your Zone in Greater Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mysty Lawrence.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mysty. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I founded Get Out Your Zone in 2015 and initially created it as a blog that focused on fitness and nutrition. As I worked daily on my blog, I had an interest in selling workout clothing so I expanded to workout fits. After blowing hundreds in inventory, I knew that I needed to tweak my strategy. From there, I tried wholesaling fitness clothes and equipment. This direction would allow me to sell clothing while not having to touch inventory but in hindsight, I lost control of my presentation and quality in production. I dabbled a bit with fitness videos and healthy recipes but no clear path on where I wanted my brand to go. Five years and a baby later, I found new meaning for my brand, to inspire women’s health and fitness by hosting monthly challenges, selling fitness guides and workout tees and branded gear. My goal is to touch as many women as possible to make fitness, health and well-being a go to choice and top priority for their everyday life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am today has been far from smooth. I’ve tried multiple outlets that failed numerous times such as selling activewear and having to hold a lot of inventory on hand that didn’t sell as well as having issues with vendors from wholesalers overseas as well as lagging ship times. On top of trying to figure out a sales strategy for my product line, I also had issues with content creation and trying to build an audience that was captivated by yet another fitness brand. I remember one time spending hundreds on photo shoots and ads that led to ZERO growth. I tested many different strategies trying to build Get Out Your Zone into what it is today. Literally each time I changed my strategy, I changed my logo and branding with it. Honestly, if I hadn’t gone the different routes that I took, I wouldn’t have known how to fine tune Get Out Your Zone into what it is today.

Get Out Your Zone – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Get Out Your Zone is a brand dedicated towards empowering women to live more healthier and fit lifestyles. We provide monthly challenges that cater towards different areas of fitness, nutrition and well-being. We specialize in women’s fitness and focus on moms and maximizing their results and recovery, along with providing workout tips, insights and trends. We have both free and paid fitness guides as well as workout gear and merchandise catered to moms. One of the things that makes me most proud of my brand is my consistency. As I’ve stated before, I’ve tried a lot of different things and years later, I’ve figured out a formula that not only sets me apart in the market but also gives both my brand and women more purpose, drive and motivation.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment in my career has been to see my content evolve over the years. I remember when I started, I used to record my workout videos with the front-facing camera of an old iPad in my kitchen. I didn’t know how to work audio and was editing my footage with the most basic software. Now I am fully equipped with everything to create content that captivates my audience, from shoots in various locations to quality cameras and industry-standard video editing software.
