Today we’d like to introduce you to Mykal Aubry.
Mykal, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been focused on my artistic expression since I was young and when I was a teenager, I began to focus on learning about consciousness and the power of thoughts and energy to direct and create the things and experiences in life that I desired. When I was a Junior in high school, on a particular day, I felt a strong conviction to live from my joy and to do in life what I loved, and at that time, I desired to get a job as a graphic designer, even though I had never designed anything before. A few months later, I was working at an advertising agency in Beverly Hills as an assistant and a few months after that I got a new job at another advertising agency, also in BH, actually doing graphic designs for the company’s clients, still as a Junior in high school. I attended Otis College of Art and Design and majored in Illustration. In my senior year of college, I began working at Disney as a Jr. Graphic Designer and before graduating college I was hired by Warner Bros. as a Jr. Art Director, designing feature film advertising. I worked at Warner Bros. for six years, becoming a Sr. Art Director.
In 2003, I was inspired to begin painting again and I had a powerful, heart-opening and awakening experience while creating a small painting that I did at that time. That painting is what opened the door to the art that I have been creating from then, til now. Everything came together in a powerful way, my spirituality and my art came into union and Visions of Origin Art was born. My work supports people in experiencing their inner radiance and power, as well as helps to expand their hearts and minds, to feel deeply connected to themselves and the universe. I’ve been exhibiting my art throughout the yoga and conscious community since 2005 and currently Dr. Joe Dispenza is featuring my art at his advanced retreats around the world. I am now beginning to create films of my paintings and also compose the music for the films. I’ve been a musician since I was 12.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, there have been many challenges along the way. Most of them have been financial struggles, based on limiting subconscious beliefs. When I created my first series of paintings in 2003, I didn’t have a car, had very little income. It was very challenging, but I knew I had to create that series of paintings no matter what and for 15 months, I was in my apartment creating the seven large paintings, one after another, non-stop.
Please tell us more about your art.
I create paintings that support people in experiencing their inner radiance and power. Each of my pieces is an activation of energy that transmits an uplifting vibration to the viewer. I create my work from my inner visions and I also create commissioned paintings as well. I sell my originals and fine-art prints in multiple sizes. My art is coming through at this time to awaken peoples’ conscious awareness of what they truly are, their most essential self, beyond any identities of the personality while invoking a felt wholeness, peace and inspiring a life of new possibilities that have never been lived before.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mom always supported me in expressing my art from the beginning. My sisters have also been a great support, as well as dear friends throughout the years, which I’m very grateful for.
