Meet Mya Vo of Allura Nail Bar & Spa in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya Vo.

Mya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the business over 18 years, so I know all there is to know about the nail care industry. My passion is to make people happy and help them appreciate their nails. I know that most women have no time or energy to make themselves beautiful and glamorous. Often time we take our hands and feet for granted, we are in the business to make our clients appreciate and love their nails. I want to briefly take them away from their daily stress that is called life. I want to make them look beautiful, elegant and appreciated. That is my passion more than anything. I want every client to leave our salon knowing we did our best to pamper them. That is what I think what sets us apart from the other salons.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always struggles along the way. Every client has doubts about a new salon or the employee.

We took over the business from a previous owner since December 2016. Obviously, when the salon first opened, it did great and had revving reviews, however soon after the honeymoon, the salon was neglected and the clients also felt neglected and eventually left. We have had many clients wrote bad reviews on yelp about the previous management and staffs. Many swore they never come back.

Once we took over we put have transformed and remodeled the salon. We have updated all the equipment, brought in new spa chairs, install the state-of-the-art ventilation system and redecorate the entire salon. Now we are starting to see clients’ compliments and appreciate the changes. We are now starting to see old clients returning to us and really love what we have done to the salon. People now love us on Yelp, we have had nothing but 5 stars compliments on Yelp. Unfortunately, we had to let go most of the old staffs and hired a whole new team of professionals.
