Meet Mya Silva of LÉA in West LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya Silva.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am an artist from Brockton, Massachusetts and I just moved to LA in March. I grew up around music so I’ve always known that I wanted to be a musician. I started off playing trumpet from elementary school through high school then decided to go to Berklee College of Music as a voice principal and major in Music Business. Due to COVID, I moved to LA a little sooner than expected but now I am just focused on creating/ releasing new music under a new artist name, LÉA, and discovering myself and my place in the industry!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going to a music school filled with talented individuals made it harder for me to see my own potential causing a lot of issues with confidence. For a long time, I lost sight of what I’ve always wanted and loved to do which was making my own music. I didn’t believe that people would listen to my music or that what I envisioned and created was good but I eventually realized that if I want something, I need to go for it, regardless of what others want for or from me.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer/songwriter and recording artist. I write and record my own music as well as producing and mixing some of the new music I have coming out soon! I have an alternative sound and create music for you to vibe to.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that authenticity in what I do and who I am is an important quality in order for me to be successful. I feel like I could have everything in the world but If I have lost myself or don’t know who I am / what really makes me happy, then I can’t be truly successful or satisfied.
