Meet Montebello Makeup Artist: Brianna Gonzales

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Gonzales.

Brianna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was younger I loved “playing” with makeup. I loved trying to create new looks on both myself and my siblings. As I got older I realized how much I wanted to go to school to get certified, and with the help of my family, I was able to do that.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, at first it was hard. I had a bit of an artist block for quite some time, it happens. I think the hardest part is trying to get people to book you at first because people don’t know who you are yet. I’m not going to lie it’s still hard but I’m hoping things will work out for the better soon.

What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
I feel like so many people want to get into the makeup industry which is great. I think it’s an amazing way to bring people together.

What has been the primary challenge you’ve faced?
My biggest challenge would have to be trying to balance out a “regular job” as well as trying to get my business cards to people and get them to book me. It’s hard but worth it

What would you tell someone who is just starting out?
Keep going. No matter how much you think you can’t do it, or people telling you art is not a “real job” keep going. You can do it.
