Meet Monique Salas of The Oc Lash Fairy in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Salas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story started when I was a child… I always knew I wanted something to call my own. As teen single mother I had to grow up very quickly. I had to work so hard to provide for my daughter. I learned what it was like to have a good work ethic from those experiences. When I was 18 I started to venture off with Fortune 500 companies in multi-level marketing. These companies introduced me into a new level of thinking & success. I saw small gains in the small businesses I would invest into. However, was never able to follow completely through & failed at every attempt. I never knew what my passion was. All I knew was that I wanted more out of life than what I always had. I was never satisfied or content.

After the birth of my 2nd daughter, I fell into a deep depression. I was losing my identity from what I was used to. Working and providing. I was now a stay at home mother. The day to day aspects were very challenging. I knew I had more to give that what I was giving to this world. A mother was not all I was meant to be. I soon came upon an eyelash extension course. I took the course not knowing what would come of it. Never did I think I would fall in love with it the way I have. I have the best clients they truly complete me in ways I’ve never imagined.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely been very tough. There were times when I wanted to quit because I was not expanding as fast as I envisioned it. I felt like giving up because it seemed much easier. I even considered going back to my day job that I previously had. However, I made a promise to myself that I would never work for anyone else.

Even at your regular job they tell you what your cap is. I always knew I was worth more than what I was ever paid hourly.

In the midst of evolving I have been told many negative things from people who never understood me. The criticism I have received past & present has definitely made me a stronger woman. I have way thicker skin now and for all of it I’m so thankful for. I think in life when you start to get opposition in what you love to do then I truly believe you are headed in the right direction. When you are on the road to success you will have to make sacrifices. You won’t have much of a social life.

You will feel confused, lonely and question yourself. As long as you push through it & stay consistent I do believe you will see it all come together.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is part of the beauty industry. I am a Lash Extension Artist. I specialize in helping women achieve fuller thicker natural looking lashes. My artistry is my passion. Booking with the OC Lash Fairy you are not getting your common Lash studio business. All my clients are just like family to me. Each eyelash session is almost like a therapy session. I love to get to know each and every one of my clients. I will accommodate my clients in any which way that I can. Sometimes even working before & after hours and not taking a day off. Clients love my work because they love how I can customize the look they are trying to achieve. From your natural every day wear to dramatic lash extensions and in between.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely think that Orange County and Los Angeles are very good cities to be in business in.
