Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Ruffin.
Monique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was raised by my paternal grandma is Watts, CA in 1970 just after the civil rights movement was ended due to the assassination of leaders like Dr. King, Kennedy and many others. I always felt that there was something terribly wrong with this country and its treatment of people based upon color or gender. I studied history and politics in Washington DC at Howard University and desires to become a politician. But an event that I volunteered for which was a campaign for Bill Clinton’s first election, sponsored by Jessie Jackson. That event showed me that politics was not for me. I realized I’m too sensitive for this beastly work. So I headed back to Los Angeles sad and defeated. Within five years, I’d become so depressed that I went on a spiritual quest which leads me to Agape Spiritual Center, where I studied human development and spiritual practices. I then attended the University of Santa Monica where I got a Master Degree in Spirituality. After graduation, I started coaching. I was moving alone nicely until my marriage ended and I had a child with Down syndrome. I felt entirely derailed emotionally and career-wise.
I found a community online where we practiced astrology and studied archetypes to understand our lives and the lessons were felt we needed to learn according to the challenges of our lives. So I started creating courses to help myself heal from my trauma. Finding Our Fathers, a course to help heal from trauma we experienced through our fathers and Finding Our Mothers, to heal Trauma from our Mothers. Eventually, I started coaching again and added astrology to the experience to have a greater understanding of how I can support my clients from the inside out. I began incorporating tarot, Reiki and rituals to help clients go deeper and get freer in their relationships, careers and family lives. Now I run courses dedicated to helping my clients live the lives they truly desire by being authentic and aligned to the energies that will support their evolution.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with confidence to run a business. Feeling inadequate because my work isn’t traditional. I’ve also struggled with creating balance between parenting and running a business. The greatest challenge has been money and marketing. Necessary but not fun.
Please tell us about Moon Mama Coaching.
I help people get free and clear within themselves about their lives, what feels good, what’s not working and what it will take to feel good inside of their lives. I help people heal emotional trauma. I specialize in Moon Manifestation Work. Which is the system where I help people use the moon which governs the waters on the planet and in our bodies to create their lives. I help them align within themselves so they create an outer reality they desire.
I’m known as the Moon Mama. And I give daily guide on the energies of the day according to the placement of the moon.
I’m most proud of and fulfilled by the intimacy I’m able to create with my clients to help them get free. I’m honored every time someone trusts me to witness their journey and allow me to offer new possibilities that will have a greater chance of success due to the astrology and esoteric tools.
My individuality and trust in my connection to Source energy sets me apart. Plus astrology is truly a cheat sheet. When you know someone’s astrology you can see into their life experiences with ease.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Today my favorite memory is the time my friends and I were making mud pies and I really ate the mud and my friends stopped playing with me because I was dirty for really eating it. I was sad then. But today I know I was all in! I was willing to really go all out and that’s a huge gift to me today.
