Meet Monique Deville of Bird Of Paradise Skin Therapy in Granada Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Deville.

Monique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my skin therapist journey before I knew I was knee-deep in it. I was a medical assistant to a Dermatologist in Encino, CA. As his assistant I was able to learn about the aesthetics field And lead me to obtain my CA license in esthetics. I knew I could do more, I started pop-ups before they were called pop-ups and started to gain clients at these facial parties.

Once I knew I could hold an office, I rented a small studio office for six years and still worked for the derm until 2015, thats when I decided to go on my own. 2018 I obtained a store front facility. I always wanted a storefront, now I’m working on my own skincare line and planning on creating online courses for treatment protocols. I’m super excited what the future has but in all things you have to put in the work.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle is real, I made a lot of financial mistakes but nothing I couldn’t handle. I had two offices in Oakland, CA and In Granada hills. This proven to be difficult, considering I had to travel 700 miles a month. I decided after 2.5 years doing that to focus on Los Angeles and I’m so happy I did. This helped me streamline and establish myself .

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bird Of Paradise Skin Therapy – what should we know?
My business is set in providing customized treatments for clients of all races, ages and conditions. I specialize in resurfacing, anti-aging, acne, pigmentation and understanding their skins present state . I make a game plan for my clients and we use treatments like Hydrafacial, chemical peels, radiofrequency , lymphatic drainage and other modalities that best suit their skin. For skin conditions internal factors must be addressed, this is why In-depth regimen mapping is so important. I recommend new clients to choose New client customized facial with in depth regimen mapping to get their skin journey started. For clients that can’t make it to my office I offer Virtual consultations as well . Doing this is great because I have been able to help people with their skin journey all over the country , including Canada.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I’m proud of the fact that I can bring proven results and also help people with maintaining a healthy lifestyle by addressing internal and skincare needs. I feel this is what sets me apart. Not every shoe fits everyone ,you have to find the right fit for the individual client ,that’s what makes them special.
