Meet Monika Santucci

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Santucci.

Monika, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started playing music at a very young age- piano, violin, bass, guitar, drums. I was in and out of indie rock bands throughout my teens and eventually figured out how to produce and write music of my own. Now I sing, song write and produce mostly pop and dance records.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have always been challenges on the way but my love for music has kept me on course and kept me persistent. I’ve had many perceived failures but it’s ultimately what lead me to where I am now today. Sometimes if a gig or record didn’t work out, in hindsight it was for the best.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I think what I’m most proud of in my music is my melodic sensibility. My melodies are usually pretty simple and catchy but they come very naturally to me. I think that in combination with my airy/breathy vocals is what creates my distinct tone.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
There are some very huge changes happening right now in the music industry. Music is usually one of the first industries to change and adapt to culture. It’s also very much so tied with technology so as we see developments there we will see changes in the way people consume music. Currently with COVID-19 we are already seeing a massive shift to live-streaming and online writing sessions in order to adapt. It’s impossible to try to predict the next decade but I can only imagine what’s in store!
