Mo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
MOMO’s CBD featuring MOMO’s Bean to BLISS Bar was born out of a passion for having the best quality ingredients to create an amazing Feel-Good product. It combines Ethically Sourced Peruvian Cacao with Full Spectrum Colorado grown Hemp-derived CBD (zero % thc). I had spent over 32 years in the Natural Products Industry working my way up from being a Veg. Chef, Buyer, Director of Purchasing to eventually CEO of Mother’s Market & Kitchen.
I loved the partnership with Local/Indie brands and helping them launch, be it ingredient evaluation and packaging, giving them shelf support or visiting their facilities. When Hemp CBD came into the Natural Products marketplace some years ago, I quickly became obsessed and researched all that I could to gain a solid understanding to launched a program in the stores. Also having a deep appreciation for Fair-trade/ethically sourced/sustainable/Non-GMO/Vegan ingredients, this was an important aspect of understanding as a CEO every product on our shelves. However, I was hungry to create something that I loved and could share- so took my departure from Retail…Fast forward to this past April following months of seeking the best quality Cacao and CBD, (there was a lot of trial and error) but we finally launched and despite censorship on Facebook and IG, we are getting placed in stores and selling from our website www.momoscbd.com and although we were just cut off from Paypal- yup, another hurdle- you have to be very resourceful in this environment- we are providing the product that I dreamed of and while the Hemp Industry awaits legislation/regulation, we are doing all that we can to persevere- reminds me of the struggle the Supplement Industry has faced for decades – ex: Years ago Stevia was not allowed on Grocery shelves. MOMO’s is a wellness product combining the powerful attributes of both Cacao and Hemp-CBD…I am humbled and amazed by so many people who reach out with testimonials that this product is actually helping them or a loved one, and while I will not make claims I will say that you will love this product and feel great after the first enjoyable bite…
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t believe that I have ever been in an environment that is a smooth road haha, always up for the adventure – and this Struggle is Real from obtaining Merchant Processing, Liability Insurance, Continuous lab testing to assure Purity and Potency, the Hemp Industry continues to be an unpredictable one-ironically following the passage of the Farm Bill these silly “cease and desists” happening in random counties create a lot of roadblocks, as I have taken the approach of supporting Natural Foods stores and not be relegated to only dispensaries so while we await labeling rules and regs. we will persevere and fight the good fight because #hempislegal

MOMO’s CBD was created with a simple guideline that all products created would have to be of the highest quality and have the purist ingredients: This means Ethically sourced – confirming that all of our purchases of raw ingredients better the lives of those producing them, Organic whenever possible, Non-GMO, Ethically sourced, Sustainable and Plant-Based.
There are a lot of great brands out there but we know that people hands down love our product from the first bite and the packaging makes you smile when you see that BLISS-full Sun on the front…in fact, our stickers are so popular that we cannot keep up the demand for them.
I am proud that MOMO’s Bean to BLISS Bar is genuinely a feel-good product – a shareable passion project taking its place as that enjoyable go-to enhanced chocolate bar that simply makes you smile- some say that they eat a whole bar in the evening and sleep great- others enjoy a square at a time (the bar is scored in 4 /10 mg. squares) through-out the day and feel less on edge-so much gratitude for those who have tried it, and excited for so many more to experience it as we scale…
I guess what sets MOMO’s apart from others are my deep roots in the Natural Products Industry and the understanding of what customers and retailers are looking for- they can trust everything from the carefully sourced ingredients to the regular testing to assure quality and potency…
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
That is a great question and while I would love to say that LA/OC is a great place to launch a business similar to mine as it has been for so many countless trends and categories of products, there are constant challenges currently in the Edible CBD space regardless of which city for Hemp in general following the passage of the Farm Bill – not just here but across many states. So sure, go for it but be prepared for a journey not a quick trip and enjoy the ride because you are joining an amazing group of individuals in this Hemp Revolution… We are fortunate to have effective organizations such as the Hemp Roundtable advocating for Hemp and its derivatives such as CBD…
