Today we’d like to introduce you to Miss Ella.
Miss Ella, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in NH and moved out to LA when I found out that my dad wasn’t my biological father. I found my biological father on the west coast which initially prompted the move. I started acting first but was later heard singing in Malibu and was quickly pulled into the music industry. I began developing as an artist and a writer and began creating music and art that felt like me.
It became difficult to keep up with being an artist and working regular day/night jobs so I started a company and began building a brand. And through many trials and tribulations, here I am as an artist but first and foremost as a soul, on an incredible journey on earth and I’m very grateful to be heard, understood and even misunderstood.
Has it been a smooth road?
There were a lot of serious struggles along the way. If I’m really to open up and talk about them … there was a lot of sexual harassment, my life was threatened… I’ve been stolen from, so-called friends trashing my apts, been left broke and homeless at points but I had a lot of humility and I also had a few good people who answered my calls… And I had (still have) the work ethic and drive to not let other people’s insecurities ever veer me from my goals.
Can you give our readers some background on your business, music and tell us what sets you apart from others?
It’s just me “Ella” … a singer, songwriter, actress. I’m known mostly for singing and acting but I’ve been known to hop behind the scenes and production manage major music videos as well.
I’m most proud of building everything from scratch. I invested in myself first and that was a lot of hard work. I didn’t have any financial support from a label or my parents to start out so first it was me working what felt like 1000 jobs to invest in myself… and finally “landing” some funding and eventually being able to build, make music videos and do small tours.
I don’t really know what sets me apart from others. I’ve always believed everyone can follow their dreams or be the most amazing version of themselves. But when I tell people about my life, they seem to really take note of the extra hurdles I’ve had to jump through to get where I am. The hardest part for me is being brave enough to stand up against some really powerful people who’ve harassed me, belittled me or played me. Apparently, people don’t like it when you stand up for yourself. Lol.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Los Angeles. I get to work with artists who are angels and that’s the best feeling. Creating or even doing business with people you love and trust.
I think the least things I like about this city are slowly dying out and evolving… I hope. Except maybe the traffic.. that might be there forever… and Eva Eva.
