Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Dari.
Hi Miriam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My company stemmed from a Pinterest board that I put together over the years. I had great ideas but never actually executed them. I initially had a wide variety of picnics saved. They went from things like date night inspiration to girls’ nights.
After planning a few picnics and seeing how much one has to haul to the beach or the place that the picnic is taking place, became the worst part. It took away a lot of the joy of hosting these picnics. It then came to me. I thought to myself, “I wish someone could set this all up and take it all down as well just so I could simply enjoy the moment” that’s when it clicked and I started the Picnic Club. I started off with just doing picnics, which then led to birthday parties, proposals, and so on. You name it. I went from a small-owned business that started off with just a picnic of four to catering to an event of 100+ now. My company is now doing events for A-list celebrities such as Demi Lovato, Shark Tanks Barbra Streisand as well as working with companies such as Bosnia & OSEA Malibu.
A good majority of my reasoning to start this company was to be able to be a working mom- but on my own time. It was very important to me that I would be able to make my visions a reality yet not miss a single moment of watching my daughter grow up. And that is one of the biggest blessings that my company has given me. Time is something you can’t get back. But money is something that you can always make and this dream of mine that has grown into a reality, has allowed me to become the best entrepreneur and mom that I could be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is never super smooth and can bring along various challenges. But for the most part, it has come pretty easy for me, and I am very grateful for that. My company became quite popular during Covid due to the fact that all of the dine-in restaurants were closed so this resulted in being able to create such a beautiful setting for those who were getting takeout. It really helped change the scenery of things and gave people a positive outlook to distract them from all the negative that was going on in the world. Covid was really a time where people were couped up inside all day, just drowning in their thoughts. I felt as if my picnics gave my clients a little getaway. Even if that getaway was in their backyard; it allowed for an escape from reality. Although picnics have slowed down a little since the end of the pandemic; we still offer so many other services such as proposals, weddings, birthdays and many more.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our main goal is to take the stress out of the planning. By taking care of that aspect of things; this allows for you as well as your guests, to be able to unwind, have a great time and enjoy every minute of your event whilst we take care of the setup, pack down, and all of the in between.
No matter the occasion, we will create an event that you and your guests will be talking about for years and something that your friends wish they beat you to first. These events leave quite the lasting impression.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned while running my business is that finding great employees that are reliable and passionate, especially in the event industry; can make or break things for you. When one is part of an industry where so many details can not go unnoticed, it is important to find those who want these events to go more than perfect. Once you find one great employee, always take care of them so they will love their job so much that they strive to make things as perfect as they could as if it was their own company. The people you bring on are a representation of what your business is and can be.
