Today we’d like to introduce you to Minka Hall.
Minka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Being around animals has always made me happy. By the age of 7, I was already bringing home strays. Cats, dogs, hamsters; it didn’t matter. I have just always felt a connection and wanted to take care of them. About 7 years ago, I realized I could turn my passion into a career. I began working towards my dream as small business owner in pet grooming. I wasn’t sure which direction I wanted to go in, brick and mortar or mobile. When I realized what a convenience it was for the local people within my community, I knew mobile was the way to go. I love that I can groom senior dogs, and help the owners of these animals that just can’t make it to the shops. I also get to help animals and their owners with disabilities by bringing the pet parlour to them. I went to school for a year and received my certification in pet grooming. While in school, I learned more than just how to groom dogs, I also specialize grooming in cats and birds. I offer full grooming services in a fully equipped van. My customers love knowing that their pets are safe and there is no wait time. It is a private, stress free environment for my clients’ pets and I can tailor each service to their needs. I have also become connected to several rescue organizations and enjoy donating my time and services to these organizations to help animals in need of grooming in order to help them find great homes.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t exactly call it smooth, but definitely worth it. My first year was the hardest in terms of building my business. I was told that if I made it to my 3rd year, that I may have the opportunity to build a solid business. I was fortunate enough to build my business from the ground up. From finding the perfect vehicle to learning how to handle different animals. This was definitely a learning experience for me and I’m so glad that I took on every obstacle and challenge head on in order to follow my dream!
Mobile Pet Parlour – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Mobile Pet Parlour specializes in not just dog grooming, but also cat and bird grooming. As a Certified Pet Groomer, I come to your home or business offering full service grooming in a fully equipped van. I am willing to groom difficult pets, and or disabled or senior pets of all breeds, age and size.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was when I adopted my own dog after seeing her picture through a known rescue organization. My dog was definitely a diamond in the “ruff” as all rescue dogs are. I became a fur Mom, and know the importance of pet adoption, as there are so many animals in need of a safe home.
