Meet Willow Kalatchi and Jennifer Rossi of The Mindry in Malibu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willow Kalatchi and Jennifer Rossi.

Willow , Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Jen Rossi is the designer and founder of Jens Pirate booty a bohemian clothing line sold globally and Willow Kalatchi is the founder of The Art of Refined travel and a travel designer for bucket list destinations. As female Entrepreneurs managing families and successful businesses the both tapped into the profound powers of meditation, mindfulness and wellness as tools to manage the pressures of their ever accelerating lifestyles,

We found ourselves compelled to create and accessible platform and community to share this universal shift in consciousness towards Mindfulness and “whole- istic health and wellbeing. Our sense of responsibility to steward this shift is amplified as a sense of uncertainty, instability and the covid 19 pandemic continues to unfold around the world, propelling meditation to the forefront as an integral part of coping and maintaining a healthy immune system.

Being both born and raised in  Malibu. And Jen currently raising her own children here  we decided to opening our flagship concept of the Mindry in Malibu in the summer of 2019 – where we could share the gift of Meditation and mindfulness with our own community who was still reeling after the devastating effects of the Malibu Fire

Has it been a smooth road?
We opened September 2019 and by December 2019 we had really started to hit our stride. The growth and interest in The MINDRY as a destination and brand was growing and we were really excited about the wonderful community we were building

The necessity to close our brick and mortar location in March of 2020 for 3 months was a big blow financially and a challenge to quickly pivot to online offerings.

That being said the strength our partnership being built on a deep friendship of over 25 year was an incredible gift as both emotional and strategic support as the unthinkable unfolded around us. The additional inspiration of meditation being such an important tool for stress reduction and overall health and wellbeing propelled us to march on despite the struggles

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Mindry – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

The MINDRY is a Meditation Wellness and Mindfulness brand built around a flagship meditation studio located in The Malibu Village shopping center . We offer Guided Meditations , Breathwork classes, Sound baths , Reiki healing and more. Clients can take our Group classes or schedule private sessions.

We also offer special workshops both onsite and offsite as well as newly introduced Teacher trainings for those who want to deepen their knowledge and understanding of meditation. The studio location and our website offer an expertly curated selection of wellness products and meditation tools.
One of the things that sets us apart is our strategic location in Malibu no matter what direction you are coming from to the studio you drive through canyon roads or along the ocean surrounded by the beauty of nature . It is as if your meditation begins before you even arrive.  Once you are at the our aesthetic and even the scent of the studio instantly transport you to a safe and serene. We feel we redefine the feeling of sanctuary. There is no way to describe the energy that the space holds until you experience it first hand.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is an amazing city as from most locations you can access the mountain trails or beach in under 30 minutes. We find nature such a healing force and it’s rare in a community of almost 20 million that you have such easy access to it.

The general laid back attitude and diversity of LA residents and openness to new modes of healing and a healthy lifestyle is inspiring and can be contagious.

The thing that elevates the stress level at times is the inevitable congestion associated with a large sprawling city… other than that we are pretty big fans having lived in the greater los angeles area for the bulk of our lifetime!

is also difficult to witness the disparity of income and lack of infrastructure to support those in need. I think that eventually ( hopefully sooner that later) We would like to find a way of bringing our meditation classes to those who may not otherwise have access to it.
