Today we’d like to introduce you to Minda Burr.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Minda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a showbiz veteran for two decades as an actress, playwright, theatrical director and producer. But since the mid-90’s, I have delighted in combining two of my favorite things in the world – my “always present” passion for jewelry and my exuberant love for fun, fabulous and big hearted women who also enjoy being noticed!
Up until I launched my mindaburrjewelry.com website, my primary arena for sharing my colorful “One of a kind” – as well as Limited Edition – Creations has been at my Jewelry Studio in Santa Monica or high-end cocktail parties in gorgeous homes, where we delight in tasty treats, sparkling elixirs and the coolest chicks on the planet (and still is my favorite way today). Over the years, I’ve had the honor of establishing scrumptious friendships with some very accomplished and much appreciated Collectors – from Los Angeles to London…. if you read the testimonials on my site, some collectors have 40 and 50 of my designs, for which I am supremely grateful.
I enjoy mixing raw and polished gem stones (often semi-precious stones) with Swarovski and Czech Crystals, along with fresh water pearls and eye-catching collectible beads from around the world. I also like to incorporate ethnic treasures I find in my travels and international gem shows. I featured a Machu Pichu Line after an extraordinary trip to Peru. I’m also attracted to the Tibetan, Bali, American Indian and African influence, then, I put my own spin on these “fabulous finds” to create my signature pieces.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a very FUN road – primarily because I am very social and I knew that jewelry parties in beautiful homes were a great way to meet wonderful women and to share my newest creations… I am attracted to powerful, motivated, fashionable women who have class and sass and love to party…. they keep coming back again and again because they have so much fun and also enjoy the compliments on their jewelry. Many invite their friends to come to the next party, so every festivity is bigger than the last. The food is always delicious and the wine is flowing and everyone has a blast – with NO obligation to buy. Some are now best friends who met at the parties, which is very gratifying to witness.
My biggest challenge was that I was told for years to put a website up to make my designs more accessible to people around the country or for those interested beyond a party. I worked on that website for four years before I finally got it up in 2016 (thanks to the brilliant coaching from Andrea Quinn), which was a huge relief and turned out to be a great calling card.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Minda Burr Jewelry story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the most proud of keeping this wonderful creative journey FUN for me and my collectors for the last twenty years. And I keep creating NEW and unique designs, so I’m constantly evolving and it remains exciting for me and those who appreciate my work… because I love to travel, I’m going to Bali this year and will definitely create a Bali line when I return. I can’t wait! And next year, it will be some new exotic place that will be sure to inspire me.
And I like VARIETY – fancy dancy as well as casual… dramatic as well as simple. Long and short or choker style. Shiny crystals as well as antique brass and funky stones. Buddhas as well as crosses… variety keeps it interesting for me and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Another thing that sets me apart is that I adore creating custom designs for people based on treasures they have collected or inherited over the years. That is what the “Uniquely You” tab on my site is about… perhaps you have some heirloom pendants left to you from a parent or grandparents – or even a brooch or a stray earring that I can design a beautiful necklace around in the colors and stones that you desire. It’s also a pleasure to come into people’s homes and design some fabulous “one of a kind” pieces to best compliment their wardrobe and personality. Plus, I love meeting new and interesting people.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would say my lucky charms are my dearest friends who also happen to love wearing my jewelry! They are so supportive and show up at the parties and wear my pieces out in the world – some every day! And they bring their friends to my studio and to the parties and share my photos on Facebook and support everything I do. I feel so blessed by them and honored every time I’m at a party or event and I see several women wearing my designs.
One person in particular is my Earth Angel – Catherine Curry Williams. She has hosted two huge parties for me every year for ages and she is a woman of great influence. She was even one of the top ten honorees in the country for the Loreal of Paris “Women of Worth” award for Founding Shane’s Inspiration, which has built over 60 handicapped accessible playgrounds all over the world, among her many other altruistic ventures… I would not have the following I have without her.

I have four Minda Burr necklaces (so far) and every time I wear one I feel chic and sparkly and classy. They make any out fit I wear, for dressing up or casual. They are so beautiful I wish I could add a photo to this comment so you could see them.
