Meet Milbet Del Cid of Puchica Guatemalan Bar and Grill in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milbet Del Cid.

Milbet, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Guatemala and raise cooking and selling food in the streets with my mom and siblings.

2010 my sister and I bought the first restaurant from my mom name Amalias Guatemalan cuisine in Los Angeles. I am a very hard working person and my husband as well. I dream of setting a Guatemalan restaurant where people don’t know our food. In 2014 the opportunity show for us it took a while to make the decision but we did. With the support of my husband and our kids Puchica!!! Open the doors in February 5, 2015.

Has it been a smooth road?
For me my biggest challenge is that people don’t know about Guatemalan food people in the area only know Mexican food. So when they read enchiladas in my menu they think Mexican enchiladas and our enchiladas are completely different.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
First of all our food is 100% homemade. Our corn tortillas are made by hand for every order. We make our own chips and salsas. We don’t buy nothing premade. We used fresh vegetables to make all our food.

We are a family own business here you will see my kids and my husband serving people on the weekends.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Sherman oaks I believe is a lot of competition but there is something for everyone. You just need commitment and hard work. The problem I am having is that is so hard for people to find the parking.

The entrance for the parking is on small street name Dickens but people don’t know and they go back on the freeway once the pass in front of our restaurant.
