Meet Mike Blud

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Blud.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Music Producer/ Engineer from Brooklyn, New York. Started at the age of 14 teaching myself how to produce. At 18 went to Institute of Audio Research to learn audio engineer. After graduating from there interned for legendary hip hop Producers Sean C and LV of Grind Music/The Hitmen (produced for Jay-z, Ghostface, Puff Daddy etc) Through that internship met Austin Millz who introduced me to Amir Obe. Simultaneously in 2014 I made my first trip to LA meeting producer Paperboy Fabe who introduced me to Brent Faiyaz during one of his first trips to LA as well. In 2016, I started touring with Amir as his Front Of House Sound Engineer. The next year Brents manager reached out to hire me as Brents FOH engineer for his first solo tour in 2018. After that tour I co-produced “Trust” for Brent along with Nascent, Loshendrix and Thaddeus Dixon. That song has got viral in early 2020 amassing close to 200 million streams and almost touching Gold certification. I’ve also produced and engineered for artists such as dounia, Ski Mask The Slump God, Deborah Cox

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some struggles were the years of practice getting good enough to put my talents out there. As well the early struggles of networking and knowing who to reach out to. Back in the days of pre/early social media artists and anR’s weren’t easy to reach so you really had to be creative in getting your music out there. Later on, once I started engineering for touring. Coming from working in the studio I had to learn the craft on the fly

Tell us about your work – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m most proud of the song Trust I produced for Brent Faiyaz alongside my friends Nascent, Loshendrix and Thaddeus Dixon. The response to the song has been overwhelming.

I think what sets me apart from others is that I have a production and engineering background so I can be self-contained in sessions. Also, every artist is different, I prefer being in the room with an artist and tailoring the music to them. How they’re feeling/thinking that day

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is the comfort of knowing that you accomplished your goals. Recognition is cool as well but as long as the ones who keep you working are recognizing and keeping you busy. That’s all you need.
