Meet Michelle Sharples of Vintage Vortex V V

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Sharples.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
For five years, I have owned my small business Vintage Vortex V V and have been running my shop. It is set up like a vintage mall. I rent space to vendors, and they bring in their collections, curate their space, and I sell their Vintage Clothing and accessories.

From the 30s to the 90s, my shop has the best Vintage in Los Angeles for the best prices!!!! I’m trying to keep it real. Fashion and music it’s my lifestyle. I guess you could say it’s in my blood!!!! I truly have been blessed there are always new customers coming in, and I hope to continue this wonderful shop and culture that we have here in Hollywood.

I thank God for the freedom that we have to express ourselves through our creativity.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, it has been pretty smooth. I’m always faced with the economy and changes. We keep our prices pretty fair so that even if people are having a hard time financially, they can always come out and do some therapy shopping with me. I would say the hardest part for me is seeing homeless people without a place to live or clothes, so I try to help out when I can and donate at times.

Vintage Vortex V V – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the owner, and I run my own shop. I’m very proud of the beautiful people I rent space to we are a tribe. They are really great at hunting for clothing and then pricing it very reasonably so people can come shop without hurting their wallets. I love it when customers come in, and the first thing they say is I love the vibe in here.

I’m a musician the drummer in The Blood Wisdom, and I try to set the mood in my shop as a fun, funky, rock, punk, pop, old Hollywood, Inspirational place for everyone. My number one pet peeve is awkwardness. You’re not gonna feel that here. Everyone is welcome it’s a good experience, you’re definitely going to find something cool to wear, so bring the good vibes.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Pray, meditate, manifest, and believe! Be true to yourself and pay attention to your dreams. Every day above ground is an opportunity. Show up, work hard, and enjoy life. Make it count in this lifetime. I was a late bloomer, and that didn’t stop me.

My love for my creator and the faith that I have has kept me strong. I have the support and love from my wonderful husband, family, and friends. I always give back, appreciate, and be humble. Don’t be scared to share what gifts and passion God has given you that’s the whole intent and purpose of us being here!!!!
