Meet Michelle Quintana of Clutter and Hoarding Pros in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Quintana.

Michelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my business in 1999 as a full time professional organizer. I began specializing in working with clients who had moderate to severe clutter and hoarding issues as well as those who were chronically disorganized.

As the baby boomers began to retire, the business changed focus in 2006 in order to serve a specialized niche market helping family members whose hoarding relative had either passed away or was being relocated out of their home due to aging, illness, etc. Many families we work with today live out of the area and are totally overwhelmed by how to sort through a hoarder’s home, that’s what we specialize in and do best. We also work by way of referral with elder law and probate attorneys, fiduciaries, real estate agents, law enforcement and adult/child protection services.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the ongoing challenges we face and have to learn to overcome is dealing with family members who are very very distraught when discovering that one of their elder family members was living in gross filth or other very unhealthy and potentially bio hazardous situations. We regularly encounter large quantities of rodents, fecal matter, urine (both human and animal) dead domesticated pets (dogs, cats and birds) and bed bugs just to name a few. We strive to partner with excellent vendors who we can refer immediately to family members who need services such as pest control, realtors, repair and construction services and mental health professional referral agencies.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Clutter and Hoarding Pros – what should we know?
Clutter and Hoarding Pros has built a solid reputation with clients for having a completely non-judgmental outlook regarding those we help. We pride ourselves on the huge attention to detail we give to those that retain our services. Our online testimonials and Yelp reviews speak for themselves. We only undertake one project at a time in order to assure that 100% of my crew’s attention is focused on the project at-hand. I personally go out to every assessment to meet with the client and in order to discuss the time and fees involved and exact scope of work projections in order to avoid surprises. The fee we quote is firm and we honor it.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
Our future plans is to expand into the San Bernardino and Riverside county areas. We currently service Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
