Meet Michelle Morris of MRM Massage Therapy in Santa Clarita Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Morris.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my mobile massage business in 2012, while I was still employed with the State of California. I knew in my heart it was time for me to walk out on my own, but I was also fearful of not having a steady income. After networking with others seasoned massage therapists. I decided it was time for me let my government employment go completely. To my surprise, I wasn’t scared, I was excited to start this new career path.

As a single parent, I always focused on the big picture. I celebrated the big and the small achievements. Every time a client called and booked an event, my confidence grew. I knew I had found my passion. I still enjoy interacting with my clients and seeing how something as little as a ten minute back and neck massage can change a person’s whole mindset. That’s what a massage can do. Today our team has clients/companies that book with us monthly and as far as a year in advance.

Has it been a smooth road?
A year after I started my business, I was in a bad car accident that left me without transportation. This was devastating because I was just getting a steady client base. My family saw it as a sign to go back to my regular job. My brother told me I could use his car which was nice but he had a young family and we no longer lived in the same area which made it too hard on him. But I wasn’t ready to give up on my dream. This was a very scary time for me and my son. Being a single parent, makes every decision twice as important because of your child. Luckily, a good friend had a second car she let me use and I was able to continue my mobile massage service. Within three months, I was doing so well I paid the $2,000 to get my car fixed and my faith in God grew during that time. The challenges are what make you stronger. I have been so broke that my internet service has been turned off. That’s when you work from the library. I never let the obstacles, keep me from moving forward. I looked for solutions to overcome the problems I was facing. I learned to depend on my work ethics, like getting up early and not taking no for an answer. Do not focus on your setbacks, focus on the big picture. It takes time and hard work to make your dream a reality. My first goal was to not listen to people who did not believe in my vision. I learned to block out negativity and keep my eye on my personal goals. I now see myself as a problem solver.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MRM Massage Therapy story. Tell us more about the business.
Corporate chair massage company. A professional licensed massage therapist will work with your schedule to provide quality on-site chair massage to you and your employees. Your therapist will bring all the equipment necessary. All that is required from you is a quiet space in which to work. This could be anything from an empty conference room to a spare cubicle. The process is simple and there are no hidden fees. Everything’s included. On-site chair massage works well in a corporate setting where clients can remain fully clothed. Each workplace chair massage sessions last in between 10 to 20 minutes, and is idea for individual departments or whole companies, with a three-hour minimum per massage therapist. Our team of massage therapists, have additional training in prenatal massage, Scar tissue training and energy healing. What sets us apart from other companies, is that we go the extra mile to provide a positive outcome for our clients. We believe in fairness, this means if your company is open 24 hours everyone should have an opportunity to receive the chair massage. What makes me proud, is the positive feedback we received from the employees after the event is over.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The implementation of corporate wellness programs has become a growing solution toward employee longevity and livelihood in the workplace. Large scale companies, such as Google have begun to reap the benefits of on-site chair massage. However, chair massage isn’t just a solution for large corporations. Massage therapy brings many benefits to employees and employers alike. Happy employees are good for business. I have seen a big shift in wellness programs for a lot of different companies like call centers, hospitals and auto dealerships. Imagine, an increase in morale and productivity for less than the cost of most other wellness programs. In the next five years, I see more companies offering health and wellness events for their employees on a regular basis.

Many companies are currently offering yoga and meditation as well. The human resources departments, I work with feel that chair massage is worth the investment for their staff. Its always a great feeling when companies value the service you provide.

Let me just say that Ms. Michelle’s whole aura is contagious. From her positive words, her bright smile, and inspiring spirits–who wouldn’t want her around? On top of the person she is, she works MAGIC! I received a prenatal massage and I felt like I was floating on clouds. All in all, her services have been one of the best thus far. And she only gets better. Thank you again Ms. Michelle! We love you!
