Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Hannah.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I was sitting in my second-grade classroom and my teacher asked what we wanted to be when we grow up. I wrote on the paper a Child Psychologist. She stated you can’t read that well, write that well, add or subtract that well-basically don’t be a journalist, or anything analytical. Perhaps you should be a nurses aid and I thought to myself- not even a nurse. In that moment I made up my mind that I would prove that 2nd-grade teacher wrong. So for the next 30 years, I would be on a mission to prove myself to my second-grade teacher. Three different times in grad school and one doctorate degree, I realized that I had the truth in my soul all the time. I knew that I needed to be helping people. So off I went on another journey of figuring out what that meant.
Over 50 certifications in coaching, I realized my niche was relationships. I remember sitting in my car and thinking I finally have the answer to the question I’ve had for so long which was who am I? I help singles and couples emotionally heal, connect deeper though intimacy and live authentically. After cancer and currently fighting a chronic illness-I know who I am and what my purpose is. I’m not only walking in it but it is now unleashed to the world. I realized I wasn’t dumb like my 2nd-grade teacher suggested but I was dyslexic and undiagnosed, that’s why I see things differently than most. What’s interesting is that while growing up, visually and comprehension was very different from my perspective and I also saw the world through a pair of lenses that thought outside the box. It’s because of that unique quality in my DNA that I have become a risk-taker, innovative and able to deeply connect with most people.
I look back and I’m proud of my MBA, Masters of Teaching with Learning and Technology, my many certifications in what I love to do such as relationships, intimacy, emotional intelligence, psychology and my most recent a doctorate in spiritual counseling. I have authored three books and have helped over 500 couples stay together. I presently connect to people all over the world through my personal story and coaching them in there personal and business relationships. I am so proud of myself but my greatest accomplishment is my work on myself. I love myself and I am learning how to increase my self-care daily. Often when you are a giver, you forget about self. I no longer do that. I healed my second-grade self with the realization that I am more than enough…
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing that amazing or my favorite phrase: “WOW Moments” come without struggle. It’s not been easy and it’s still not. Being an entrepreneur is challenging in itself but being a small business owner is even more challenging because often you are a one women show. I have found that no one is going to believe in your vision as you do. Why should they-its your baby that you must birth. Don’t get me wrong, my husband, my mother, daughter, and my best friends have been so supportive through my journey but I am the one that’s responsible for seeing my vision through. Due to my chronic illness, I’m up sometimes working on a project and all of a sudden a pain level of 8 hits me and I can no longer work regardless of deadlines. I take care of self and then I connect back to my vision. I have had nine procedures in the last two years but I don’t focus on that. I heal emotionally and physically and I keep on going. I had TIA (mini-stroke) this year and when I was in the ambulance-couldn’t speak and my right side was numb, I could hear my inner voice say have you loved yourself and others intensely? If this was the end today would you leave here with no regrets? My answer was NO. It was a wakeup call for me.
Almost immediately after I got out of the hospital, I started to delete and reset. Delete everything that didn’t serve me and reset a new way of thinking. Once I reset, I restructured my life and I feel so much better. I wake up differently and I give myself a Do-Over every day. Its almost as if I’m reborn every day. I love it. The slate is clean every day and the pin is in my hand to write a different story if I choose. No matter what the present or past obstacle exists, I have the power within to turn the page or chapter in my personal book of life. I truly have learned what it is to overcome obstacles and stare adversity in the face……Trust me I have a mean stare down when looking at adversity.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a relationship coach, author, and public speaker. I help singles and couples emotionally heal, connect deeper through intimacy and live authentically. My clients report that they are able to breakthrough and emotionally heal and for the first time be authentic. My proudest moment as a company is that we have been able to help over 500 couples and over 1,000 singles break up from toxicity, breakdown the barriers, breakthrough the pain and fear and break out into living authentically-
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is in deep need for my business. We are so disconnected due to texts, email and social media so we have forgotten how to communicate and intimacy is almost a thing of the past. Today everybody wants things that are so instant. What happened to dating with a purpose? Don’t we need to disconnect to reconnect? Self-help is so needed in our climate and because this is my home, I truly want my city to heal and love from an authentic place.
I would recommend any upcoming entrepreneur to start off from what town they are from because they know that market and perhaps they already have a following. However, LA has a plethora of opportunity and because of that one can truly grow and make some amazing connections and enhance relationships that are diverse and lasting.
I do think that LA could improve by having more mastermind groups that are industry-focused as well as diverse industries that come together and truly help one another grow their business and sponsor one another.
