Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle DeFraites.
Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing at the age of three and doing community theater with my family back in Mississippi. When I turned 14, that’s when we decided to move to California and try to give acting a real shot. My parents were so incredible to move their entire life for me, and I will be forever grateful for that.
I am currently promoting my new project, Drama Drama, a coming-of-age teen musical dramedy. I play Sydney, a bad girl with a rebellious streak that accidentally becomes part of a girl band. It’s packed with so much girl power and I can’t wait for everyone to see it! Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel like the life of an Actor is always a windy road. There are great times when you’re working a lot and other times where things are really slow, and the rejection can be tough. You have to remind yourself why you’re doing it and how much you love it, and then it’s all worth it in the end.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actor, but I also love fashion. My husband and I have a fashion blog that we run. It’s our passion project that keeps us creative in the slow times!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success can mean so many different things to so many different people, but to me, I try to define it as happiness. I am a goal-oriented person. So, when I reach a goal, I feel happy and feel like I’ve had a little success. The important thing is to have a bunch of little successes while you’re working towards the one BIG thing that you feel like will make you “successful” so that it is a fun journey.
