Meet Michael Weisberg of Lend to America in Woodland Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Weisberg.

Michael, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been in the mortgage lending business for over 26 years, and started my loan career doing refinances and essentially cold calling homeowners about lowering their monthly payments. With hard work and a desire to help buyers achieve the dream of home ownership, I was able to lead the mortgage lending division for many years with one of the largest banks in the US and then expand afterwards into being a mortgage banker with my own company Lend to America.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The lending business is never a smooth road. There are no two borrowers alike.

Everyone has a different story to tell and it is up to me to make sure their story is told in a way that the lender understands and accepts. I have had much of my success in structuring loans in a way that they get approved and closed. It is unfortunate when a buyer comes to me while they have been in escrow for several weeks and being told that the lender can’t approve them. But, the best sense of accomplishment is when I am able to get their loan closed and them into their new home. If they would all just start with me in the beginning we could avoid all this…but such is life.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lend to America story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a direct lender, meaning we fund our own loans. We special in purchase and refinance loans. The types of loans we offer range from Conventional, FHA, VA and private money loans. We offer loans to first-time homebuyers, move up buyers and to the high-end multimillion dollar buyers. Lend to America works with a wide range of buyers from all different classes to ensure they achieve the dream of homeownership.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think of karma more than luck in life. In that, doing good onto others comes back to you tenfold. I have always ensured that I do both business and my personal life with good karma in mind. I want to be the one that leaves at least a 15% tip even when service may not warrant it, because I never want to have someone have a negative to say about me. Living a clean honest life has definitely got me to where I am today.
