Meet Michael Green of Greenland Nursery in Brea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Green.

Michael, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working in nurseries in 1978. I went to school for ornamental horticulture and received my contractor’s license in 1987. It was always a dream of mine to one day own my own nursery. Three years ago, I started Greenland Nursery. I love plants and people and I’m fulfilling my dream every day.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, definitely not. Still a bumpy road. The hardest part of my business is finding friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced nursery help. The financial requirements are extensive. Finally, this year is proving to be the best yet and I feel my nursery is finally turning the corner. My customers really love it here and that is the big payoff.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Greenland Nursery – what should we know?
Greenland Nursery is a full service 5-acre nursery with just about anything you might need for your garden, home or business. We cater to industry professionals and residential customers. I’m most proud of how the nursery has grown and how much my customers love to come in. What sets my nursery apart is that I LOVE to help people with education, attitude, and making the process enjoyable!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Ambitious, dedicated, and not afraid of hard work.
