Today we’d like to introduce you to Silver.
Silver, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been very passionate about music since I was very young. I used to play acoustic guitar as a hobby with some high school classmates and after a little while, I had the opportunity to join an alternative rock band called Junkin. We recorded several albums and EPs, but after few successful years we decided to break up the band. Is when it began my interest about electronic music, starting to pay attention to these new and different sounds. After some time of experience and practice, I realized I wanted to learn how to mix, compose and produce electronic music professionally. I’ve always been a self-taught musician but I decided it was time to enroll in a Music Production School. Is when I understood where I wanted my career to go in the future and I chose my professional name Silver. During that time, I had the opportunity to play in some of the most important local bars, clubs and festivals in Mexico.
In 2015, I founded the reputable artists collective SessionsMx to create quality electronic events and promote the talented local Djs from Guadalajara, Jalisco, MX. I organized several events and became one of the most popular artist collectives in Mexico. 2019 was a special year for me because I was not only winner of the Mixmag LAB LA Opener Contest organized by one of the world’s most prestigious electronic magazines Mixmag where competed Djs around the world, but also winner of several well-known international film festivals such as Cult Critic Movie Awards, Independent Horror Movie Awards and Los Angeles Film Awards, for the original music score I composed and produced for the multi-awarded Crypto Game.
I currently have a lot of shows coming up in Mexico and I just have been offered a DJ Residency in a very important nightclub in Los Angeles, CA. I am also working on the release of my next EP, I am in the middle of developing a personal project for a social cause and I am already in pre-production of the rest of the episodes of the series Crypto Game.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been easy. Throughout your musical career, you are always going to run into musical, financial or personal barriers but I believe if you work hard and love what you do, sooner or later you will see the fruits. Because the market of music is very competitive, day by day requires you to improve and innovate to be at the top of the list. You must always know where you want to go and keep your feet on the ground.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a DJ and Music Producer, I specialize in Techno and House music and all its variations. I am a versatile musician who is capable to adapt to different situations and fields. I have experimented with music from the first day that I started to play and produce music until today and I have archived a lot, but most important I always stayed humble. I am proud of all my work but especially the moment I knew I was the winner of Mixmax LAB LA Opener Contest 2019 because it was the first award of my career. I always work so hard and knowing your work is being enjoyed, recognized and rewarded worldwide gives you strength to keep going and inspire upcoming musicians.
