Meet Merley Greenidge of Celebrate Sweetly in Conejo Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Merley Greenidge.

Merley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The idea was very organic and a natural fit as I’m known as the ‘gift whisperer’ within my family and among my friends. I didn’t miss special occasions and I also love to send surprise gifts. Since the response from the gifts I was already making for friends, kids, teachers, etc. was so positive, the next logical step was to start scaling up. Over the past seven or so years, we have been curating gifts for several small to mid-size companies with an emphasis on speaking the language of appreciation with thoughtfully curated custom gifts.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always bumps in the road however I look at obstacles and challenges as learning opportunities. Cash flow, getting clients and managing all aspects of running a business are daily challenges and the current pandemic has been a prime example of how much of a challenge self-employment can be. As with anything else, my approach is to pivot and to continue to find ways to keep going.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Celebrate Sweetly – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Celebrate Sweetly is a gifting company. We specialize in curating custom and personalized gifts for all occasions. We are known for making gifts with a personal touch that always lets the recipient know that there was some thoughtfulness behind the gift. I’m very proud to run a business that is 100% black woman-owned. As a small business, we focus on delivering memorable gifting experiences for our clients as well as the recipients of our gifts. What sets us apart is our attention to detail and the personal touches and thoughtfulness that is put into every gift that leaves our design studio.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the spirit, energy and vibe of our city. I love the cultural elements and the amazing culinary experiences that awaits at multiple intersections… The mountain ranges and the beaches are within striking distance from just about every corner and it is truly wonderful. If I could enjoy all of this without LA traffic, now that would be magical.
