Meet Meredith Greenberg of Arts & Classy in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Greenberg.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Meredith started her adult life back in 2009 thinking TV and Film was her future as a production designer. Little did she know that a recession would delay her dreams of moving up the Art Department food chain. She resorted to bartending on the side to make ends meet between industry jobs. She worked her way up on shows like The Ellen Show, American Horror Story, Adam Ruins Everything, and Big Brother. She also worked for many years at E! Entertainment/Style/G4 Networks with their in house art department.

In 2010, she signed up for Pinterest to help curate ideas to decorate her rental apartment. Which ended up leading to a boost in her income down the road in 2017.

In 2012, she decided to delve into unknown territory, the online space and started a blog artsandclassy.com. After a lot of trial and error, she made her mark int he blogging community with her DIY projects on a budget that serve renters to help them decorate their spaces without damaging their ability to get their deposit back.

While she was working the TV/Film and blogging in 2016 she had gained over 40lbs because of a lot of anxiety, stress, and frustration from her jobs.

It was then that she decided to start kickboxing to help her release her stress. Little did she know it would lead to over 45lb weight loss but developed into a side career as a kickboxing instructor too. She realized how her creativity and new passion of helping others was being stifled with spreadsheets, short deadlines, and meetings in TV & Film. After the better part of a decade she realized that maybe this line of work wasn’t a good fit for her so she transitioned out of it.

After she began instructing she discovered a part of herself that she didn’t know existed and blossomed into a 100% more confident person with the tenacity of a fighter. Even with the ups and downs over the years, in her career, martial arts, a devastating injury, and algorithm changes… Meredith refuses to give up and continues to pursue a life of her own making and imagination with her blog artsandclassy.com, YouTube channel, podcast “Taking Messy Action,” and kickboxing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not. There have been a lot of ups and downs. One of the biggest downs was when Pinterest drastically changed their algorithm in April of 2018 and all my strategies for marketing my content plummeted. Also, Pinterest accidentally suspended my account in February of 2019 which definitely hurt my income.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Arts & Classy – what should we know?
Arts & Classy was created because I was struggling with living alone, paying rent, and decorating my apartment in Los Angeles early in my career. So I had to get creative to make my space my own using what I had and what I could find. That is how A&C was born.

Now I am helping Renters decorate their homes with more confidence. Busting through the idea that you have to spend a fortune to make your home look nice.

I am proud of the fact that I can help people think more creatively no matter what their budget is.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family, My fiancé, My close friends.

They have cheered me on along the way even when they had no idea what my vision was.
