Meet Melissa Randall of Baking with Melissa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Randall.

Melissa Randall’s journey to creating Baking with Melissa includes a professional acting repertoire of performances and hosting accomplishments that have brought her all over the world. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech with an emphasis in Theatre from Northwestern State University, Melissa established herself by performing in dinner theatres, children’s theatre, theme parks, cruise ships, trade shows, baking webisodes and much much more. In addition, Melissa dedicated over 20 years of her life to teaching children the art of acting, baking, and cooking in a variety of enrichment programs and theatres, proving herself as an accomplished actor, baker and educator.

No stranger to the stage, she represented Baking with Melissa on the premiere episode of The Lifetime Network’s Supermarket Superstar on July 22nd, 2013. Melissa continues to promote her brand as a featured talent on eHow.com, where she has filmed 85 baking webisodes based around her business and as the host of 5 cooking shows for Bumble Bee Tuna. Melissa now hosts in-home baking parties, cooking parties, and cupcake decorating parties in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. You can find Baking with Melissa on Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and find delicious recipes on her blog.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started my business zero dollars and the belief that it was possible. Was it easy? No, not at all. I had to wake up every day and believe in my possibilities without any proof that it would ever happen. For the first year, when people said, “Oh what do you do? I would tell everyone that asked “Oh! I host baking parties and cupcake decorating parties for kids and teens in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas!” I spent my down time creating my website, social media, costumes, recipe blogs, volunteering for kid related organizations, etc. and did not make one dollar. In fact, I did not make one dollar for my business for over a year and a half after I created it…then one day, the phone rang and a mom found me online and hired me to host my first baking party. I will never forget that phone call.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Baking with Melissa – what should we know?
Baking with Melissa specializes in unique baking birthday party experiences. I bring all of the dishes, the ingredients, and the FUN to your location, set everything up, and then entertain the party guests for the duration of the party. After the party concludes, I clean everything up, and send the guests home with recipe cards and boxes of cupcakes that they made and decorated themselves.

The idea behind Baking with Melissa is to create a fun and creative learning environment that the kids can then take home and share with their families…hopefully inspiring children to be creative and also giving children and their families something fun to talk about.

Some of my favorite memories as a child were those times spent in the kitchen with my mom and grandmother.

Baking with Melissa is a one-person operation. Melissa Randall= Owner, Creator, Baking Entertainer.
